Jared Greer
Student Minister
Jared grew up in a Christian family in a small town just northeast of Houston, Texas. Although he was familiar with the gospel of Jesus, he didn’t receive Christ as his personal Savior and Lord until he was 15 years old. One year after being saved, Jared sensed a calling from God to go into vocational ministry.
When God opened the door for him to go to college at East Texas Baptist University, Jared thought he would be going there to play sports while he worked on a degree in Christian Studies. To his surprise, God opened the door for him to serve as the youth minister at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas. He served at HBC for three years while attending school full-time. Also during his college years, Jared married the love of his life, Rachel (nicknamed Sally), and they now have a son named Micah. After graduating from ETBU in May 2008, Jared was called to First Baptist Tatum where he served as both the youth minister and music minister until he was called to our church in September 2011.
Jared is passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. As our student minister, he’s involved in evangelism, discipleship, worship, ministry, and fellowship with the youth and children of our church. His desire is to help young people receive the grace of God by faith in Jesus Christ so they can begin serving God in these areas as well.
