Jesse Cannon
Music Minister

Brother Jesse was saved and baptized in 1979 at the age of six and cannot remember a time when he was not called to the ministry. As the son of a Southern Baptist minister who was also a gospel musician, Jesse was given many opportunities throughout his childhood and teenage years to participate in the ministry, especially the music ministry.

From 1991-1997, he attended Fresno City College and earned 100 credit hours of musical instruction. In 2000, Jesse earned a bachelor degree in Christian Ministries from Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Jesse began his ministerial service as a minister of music in 1994. He was licensed into the ministry in 1997 and ordained in 2001. In all, Jesse has served the Lord as a minister of music, minister of music and youth, and senior pastor in churches in California, Arkansas, Missouri, and now Texas.

Since his entire ministry career has been bi-vocational, Brother Jesse has had numerous secular jobs. He has been a community service officer and 911 operator in California and Arkansas, a music teacher in a public school in Missouri, and is currently an elementary school teacher in the Richardson I.S.D.

As a musician, Brother Jesse has had an eclectic background. He grew up singing Southern Gospel and quartet music with his father and studied jazz and classical music as a vocalist and instrumentalist from junior high through college. He started playing professionally as a trombonist and tuba player at the age of 15, performing blues, jazz, and classical music. As a vocalist, he has performed as a lead in several operas in college and as a revival musician and song leader in several states.

While performing in his second opera in college, Jesse met his wife, Robyn, and they were married in 1997. Robyn, a trained vocalist and pianist, serves as his assistant at Northrich. The Cannons have two young children, Cara and Malachi.
